Rapper Yung L.A. was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 26, 1986. He was raised in Atlanta by his Auntie and his mother. He is from New York because that’s where his family is originally from then they moved to Atlanta. Yung L.A. went to middle school and high school in the United States. However, he quit high school when he got to 9th grade but later continued to obtain his high school diploma.

Yung L.A.’s aunt, who raised him, was a musician, and she used to be part of a music group based in Atlanta. So, at age 9-10, L.A. was inspired by his aunt, and he started writing down lyrics of songs he listened to and then rap to his mates in school. He also looked up to American hiphop group Goodie Mob, learned the lyrics of most of their songs, and rappers like T.I., OutKast, Jeezy, and others.
L.A. started making music after quitting high school in 9th grade. When he later returned to high school to finish his education, he continued with his musical career, and his first rap was written by his Auntie. In 2005, after the Atlanta-born rapper started gaining recognition for his music in his neighborhood and was performing his songs at a club in Thomasville, he met music producer Zaytoven, and long, they started working together. He also worked with Gucci and came out with mixtapes on CDs that were sold in his neighborhood.
In Early 2008, Yung L.A. was signed to Grand Hustle Entertainment, now Grand Hustle Records, after Young Dro found him and brought him to the label. In April, Austin released his first mixtape, “Offset Shawty,” under the Atlanta, Georgia-based record label. Following the mixtape, he dropped his first single, “Ain’t I” ft. Young Dro and T.I., on November 25, 2008. He got his mainstream breakthrough after releasing this single.

For the first time, the song took the number 47 spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart on March 28, 2009, and became certified Platinum by RIAA. On December 13, 2008, news came in that L.A. had signed with a new record label, Interscope Records, and was working on his first album, dubbed “Futuristic Leland.” On December 28, Yung released a new mixtape, “The Matrix.”
On January 10, 2009, Austin dropped his first collaboration mixtape, “Black Boy Swag, White Boy Tags,” with Young Dro. In April, he released his second single, “Futuristic Love (Elroy,)” featuring Ricco Barino. In May, Austin’s first single, “Ain’t I,” was nominated in the Best Collaboration category at the 2009 BET Awards.
On June 2, 2009, Yung la dropped his mixtape dubbed “Lamborghini Leland.” On November 5, 2009, he released another mixtape titled “I Think I Can Sing.” On December 14, 2009, Austin released his second collaboration mixtape “Batman & Robin (Superhero Language), with fellow Atlanta artist J Money, a.k.a J.Futuristic.
On February 24, 2010, the American rapper released his mixtape dubbed “Crush Da Block.” Following that, he dropped his mixtape titled “Suntrust Leland.” In early 2011, it was disclosed that Austin had parted ways from Grand Hustle and was dropped from Interscope. It was also the shelving of his debut album Futuristic Leland. On September 16, 2011, Austin released his mixtape titled Crush Da Block 2.
In an interview granted on March 27, 2012, Austin said he was “dropped from Interscope because my (second) single didn’t match the success of the first one.” He also said that he wished to leave Grand Hustle Records, that the label had failed him professionally by not following up his hit “Ain’t I” with the release of his album, and failed him personally by ignoring him when he was hurt and had asked for their help and by entangling him in disputes that didn’t involve him and had begun before he joined the record label.
On November 27, 2012, Yung L.A. released his first Studio Album titled “Check.” The album was distributed by independent Atlanta-based record label U-Digg Music Group. On November 19, 2014, Austin released his third collaboration mixtape titled Batman & Robin 2 (Superhero Language) with fellow Atlanta artist J Money, which is a sequel to their first collabroation mixtape Batman & Robin (Superhero Language).
On February 5, 2015, it was revealed that Austin was working on a new mixtape, “Expensive Language.” On March 27, 2015, he released the mixtape, and on the same day, during an interview, Austin revealed that he had signed to record producer Zaytoven’s label Zaytown USA. On August 7, 2015, Yung released a collaboration mixtape with the production team 808 Mafia titled 3 Way: 80Lay Mafia and a second collaboration mixtape with producers Zaytoven and Cassius Jay titled 3 Way: Dripset. Also, on August 7, 2015, the rapper released a third mixtape titled 3 Way: Foreign Water.
