Life story & Movie Journey

Akrobeto lost his father in 1979, just when he was about to enter Form 4. After his dad’s demise, he had no one to pay for his Form 4 fees until his mother went to talk to the Founder of Kristo Asafo Church, Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo, who at the time came to his hometown, Akyem Ayirebi, to preach the gospel. Apostle paid for his fees, and he completed his Form 4 education.

After Akrobeto finished Form 4, his mum wanted him to enroll in a Teacher’s Training College, but that didn’t happen because he himself had no interest in furthering his education. So his mum told Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo, who at the time had returned to Accra, and he sent two people to go and bring Akrobeto from Ayirebi in the Eastern Region to Accra.

When Akwasi Boadi came to Accra, Apostle made him join the Kristo Asafo Band, a new band he had formed. He bought a guitar for Akwasi and made him learn how to play it. Later, Apostle created a group called the Kristo Asafo Group, and Akrobeto and others who were part of the band were all members of the Kristo Asafo Group.

The Kristo Asafo Group was formed to entertain members of the Kristo Asafo Church after church service. So anytime Apostle Sarfo was done with his church service, then the Kristo Asafo Group performed a drama written by Apostle that they had rehearsed. This continued for some time, and then the group was registered as a concert Party group at the National Theatre. Kristo Asafo Group now became the Kristo Asafo Concert Party Group that was doing concert parties at the National Theatre in Accra.

Akrobeto was the leader of the Kristo Asafo Concert Party Group, and after doing concerts for years, in 2004, he got the opportunity to travel to the United States. He spent a month in the United States and returned to Ghana to continue the concert party. In 2007, he had another chance to travel abroad, but this time, he traveled to Belgium and spent a year in Belgium before he returned to Ghana in 2008 to start his movie career.

Akrobeto started his movie journey when he told his friend, Mr. Beautiful, who was already in the Kumawood movie industry, that he wanted to feature in Kumawood movies after he returned to the motherland from Belgium. Mr. Beautiful recommended the CEO of Miracle Films Productions to him, and they went to see him, and that’s how Akrobeto started featuring in Twi movies.

His first film was Osofo Maame, produced by Miracle Films Productions. His second was Suro Dua Bo, and his third was Area Borger, all movies produced by Miracle Films Productions. Akrobeto got his breakthrough after starring in his third film Area Borger. He is also a television host who hosts the “Real News” on UTV in Ghana.
