Dance Journey
Even though Champion Rolie knew how to dance from a young age, growing up, he wanted to become a footballer instead of a dancer. In high school, he was known to be a footballer and a dancer. However, his focus was more on football.
While in SHS, Rolie got the opportunity to go for a football trial, but after speaking to his parents about it, his dad especially wanted him to concentrate on his studies before his football career. So, Roland had to listen to his dad and pay more attention to his books.
But in Form 2 at high school, he started representing his house in Inter-house dance competitions, and that’s when his love for dancing grew, and then he decided to become a dancer. After SHS, he enrolled in dance classes to better his dance craft, and one of the dance classes he joined was Incredible Zigi’s dance class.
However, at some point, Zigi paused his dance class, and not long after, when Champion was at home making dance videos and posting on his status, a female friend he made during Zigi’s dance class, Liya, who is now a DWP member, told him about another dance class organized by Dancegod Lloyd.

Champion Rolie joined Dancegod Lloyd’s class, and through the dance class, Dancegod Lloyd told him and others they were about to establish a dance academy, thus the DWP Academy, so if they were interested, they could join, and that’s how Rolie joined the Academy in 2017 and began his professional dance career.
Roland was among the first batch of dancers that joined the DWP Academy in Dzorwulu before the school moved to the Lizzy Sports Complex, where they currently rehearse. Since joining the DWP Academy in 2017, Champion Rolie has become one of the notable dancers in Ghana. He has danced on big event stages, most in Ghana, and featured in music videos of top musicians both home and abroad as a dancer.
Aside from dancing, Champion has an online dance class dubbed the Champion Rolie dance classes, where he teaches people how to dance. He also travels to countries to teach people how to dance in person, and one of the classes he has organized was in Israel. Roland Kwabena Frimpong Nyarko is also into music and has a song as a member of the DWP Academy titled “Eheati.” As an individual, he has songs like “La Bai” and “Your Mind Go Tear” with Lotus Beatz.

As a natural giver, Rolie launched a Foundation on December 5, 2023, in a live session on TikTok.
