Music Journey
Diana Hamilton started her music journey at age 7. Because she was born into a Christian home, she was exposed to gospel songs at a young age at her family house in Afful Nkwanta, Kumasi, where she spent a part of her early life with her grandmother, grandfather, and aunties from her father’s side.
Diana learned how to sing gospel songs at a young age from one of her aunts, named Comfort Antwi, who used to sing gospel songs at home. Hamilton imitated auntie Comfort whenever she sang a gospel song, and that’s how she learned to sing.
At age 14, while Hamilton was a student at Morning Star School in Accra, she became a backing vocalist for Ghanaian gospel artist Francis Agyei after they met in Church at the Church of Pentecost Macedonia Assembly. She also began singing in Church, and in 1996, she joined Francis Agyei and others to start Kwame Despite’s Pentecostal Praise.
Diana worked with Elder Francis Agyei till 2002, and in 2005 after getting married, she commenced her solo music career. In 2007, Diana Hamilton released her debut album, titled Osoro Be Kasa, which brought her to light. Her second album, Ensi Wo Yie, was released in 2010, and now she has six albums and several singles to her credit.
