Music Journey

Eno Barony started her career as a singer. Because of her religious background, growing up, she used to sing gospel songs in church, which even made her parents believe she would become a gospel musician. She also used to sing in school and began writing songs at a young age.

However, Barony switched from singing to rapping when she gained admission to the Methodist Day Senior High School (Great MEDASS) in Tema. She was influenced to be a rapper after she started listening to rap music when she went to live in Ashaiman during her Junior High School days with her parents and siblings.

At MEDASS, Eno Barony’s rap talent was discovered by Ghanaian musician Stay Jay, known for his hit song “Shashee wowo,” who was her senior in school. When Stay Jay discovered Eno, he introduced her to other rappers and musicians in Tema, and not long after, she started getting support from rappers like Yaa Pono.

Eno Barony first recorded a song in Kumasi at Laxio Beats’ studio when she was furthering her education at the Kumasi Technical University after completing SHS, and her first track is “Yefre Me Sen Eno.” The song made her popular in the Ashanti Region, and years later, when she returned to Accra, she came out with a refix of Joey B and Sarkodie’s Tonga Song, which brought her into the limelight.

After Tonga Refix, she dropped “Me Gye Wo Boy,” another refix, on which she collaborated with Abrewa Nana. She went on to work with Togolese artist Flammez on a song titled “The Best.” In 2016, she recorded a song with Shatta Wale dubbed Daawa, and the same year, she worked on GARI, a track, with Kwaw Kese.

She continued to work with other Ghanaian musicians like Ebony Reigns, Stonebwoy, Medikal, AK Songstress, Efya, and Becca. Eno has over fifteen singles now and two albums to her credit, Yaa Asantewaa, and Ladies First.
