Grace Omaboe, also called Maame Dokono, is a Ghanaian actress, scriptwriter, and TV personality. She is also a singer and a former Politician. She is the proprietor of Graceful Grace School in Adenta, which was formerly an Orphanage named Peace and Love Orphanage.

Omaboe was born on June 25, 1945, in Abirem, Eastern Region. She is 78 years old and a native of Nyafuma, a town in the Eastern Region.

Grace is from a family of seven, which consists of her parents, herself, and four siblings. Initially, she had five siblings, but her elder brother, who comes before her, the second born, is late, so now she is the eldest of her remaining siblings.


Grace Omaboe’s mother is the late Madam Rebecca Afia Daadom, who was a trader and an entertainer. She was a native of Nyafuma, and she passed in 2017. However, her father is also late, passed on years before her mother died. He was from Osu, Greater Accra Region.

Educational Background

She finished Abetifi Girls school and continued at St. Monica’s Training College, Ashanti Region. Grace Omaboe was an Entertainment Prefect at St. Monica’s.

Grace Omaboe dated Ghanaian actor David Dontoh after she divorced her first husband. The two movie stars were in a relationship from the days of Obra, and they dated for about eleven years before going their separate ways. After their relationship, Grace moved on to marry her second husband, but after some years, they divorced.


She is a mother of six children, four boys and two girls. Four of her children are from her first marriage, and the remaining two are from her second marriage.


She has songs such as Otanfo and Begye Wo Kawa.


Grace Omaboe discovered acting when she enrolled at St. Monica’s Training College. She joined her school’s drama group and took part in stage plays.

After training in college, she became a teacher and later found herself writing Screenplays for the Osofo Dadzie Drama Group. After some time of doing that, she was convinced by Nana Bosompra, a film producer, to feature in a series dubbed Keteke, which later changed to become Obra. She rose to fame through Obra and got her nickname Maame Dokono due to her role in the series. From Obra, Grace has starred in several Akan and English movies produced in Ghana.

She also started hosting TV shows along with her movie career. Grace has hosted shows like By the Fire Side on GTV and Odo Ne Asomdwe on Metro TV.
