Do I qualify to become an immigration officer in Ghana?
You qualify to become an immigration officer in Ghana once you have an educational background with good grades and have all the necessary documentation required.

GIS Recruitment Requirements
Below are the requirements to become an Immigration Officer in Ghana.
1. Graduate Entry (General Duty)
Applicant must;
- Must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth and with no criminal records.
- Must be physically and medically fit.
- Must hold a first degree from any recognized University or Institution.
- Must have completed National Service.
- Must be of a minimum age of 21 and not more than 30 years by 31st December 2023.
- Must be of good character.
- Must not be bonded.
- Must have a minimum height of 173 cm (5ft 8inch) for Males and 163 cm (5ft 4inch) for Females.
2. HND
- Must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth and with no criminal records.
- Must be physically and medically fit.
- Must be of good character
- Must not be bonded
- Must possess Higher National Diploma (HND)
- Must have completed National Service.
- Must be of a minimum age of 18 and not more than 30 years by 31st December 2023.
- Must have a minimum height of 173 cm (5ft 8inch) for Males and 163 cm (5ft 4inch) for Females.
3. DIPLOMA
- Must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth and with no criminal records.
- Must be physically and medically fit.
- Must be of good character
- Must not be bonded
- Must possess Diploma
- Must have completed National Service.
- Must be of a minimum age of 18 and not more than 30 years by 31st December 2023.
- Must have a minimum height of 173 cm (5ft 8inch) for Males and 163 cm (5ft 4inch) for Females.
4. DIPLOMA (STENOGRAPHERS)
- Must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth and with no criminal records.
- Must be physically and medically fit.
- Must be of good character
- Must not be bonded
- Must possess Diploma in Business Studies (Secretaryship Option) or an NVTI equivalent.
- Must have completed National Service.
- Must be of a minimum age of 18 and not more than 30 years by 31st December 2023.
- Must have a minimum height of 173 cm (5ft 8inch) for Males and 163 cm (5ft 4inch) for Females.
5. HND (CATERING/INSTITUTIONAL MANAGEMENT)
6. DRESSMAKING/TAILORING
- Must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth and with no criminal records.
- Must be physically and medically fit.
- Must be of good character
- Must not be bonded
- Must possess any of the following
- NVTI Certificate
- GES intermediate certificate in Tailoring
- GES/COTVET Certificate II in Tailoring
- Must have completed National Service.
- Must be of a minimum age of 18 and not more than 30 years by 31st December 2023.
- Must have a minimum height of 173 cm (5ft 8inch) for Males and 163 cm (5ft 4inch) for Females.
7. NON-GRADUATE ENTRY (RECRUITS-GENERAL DUTIES)
- Must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth and with no criminal records.
- Must be physically and medically fit.
- Must be of good character
- Must not be bonded
- Must hold SSSCE/WASSCE Certificate with Five (5) credits, including English Language or Mathematics.
- Must be of a minimum age of 18 and not more than 30 years by 31st December 2023.
- Must have a minimum height of 173 cm (5ft 8inch) for Males and 163 cm (5ft 4inch) for Females.
How to Apply for Ghana Immigration Service
Option 1:
- Buy an e-voucher at a cost of GH¢100 from the various branches of GCB Bank Limited across the country.
- Visit the GIS Recruitment Portal gisrecruitment.
- Click on the apply tab and enter your serial number and pin code.
- Select your highest educational or current level.
- Fill in the personal details, branch, and education information and upload an approved passport-size photo before submitting. Passport photo dimension (200×180) pixels.
- Review the whole page, submit, and print out a copy of the application summary report. This report will contain all your information, including the application identification number.
- At the expense of a successfully submitted application, you can come back before the closing date to print your summary report with the use of the card purchased.
NOTE: Qualified applicants will be contacted by e-mail for Screening and Examination at the Screening Centre selected for the online application.
Option 2:
• USSD Code: Applicants can dial the short code *422*473#, follow the prompt and allow payment via mobile money on all networks. After payment is successful, a Serial number and Pincode will be sent via SMS alert to the payee/applicant.
• After receiving the Serial number and Pincode, the applicant must visit the GIS recruitment portal and fill in all required information.
