The general requirement for opening a bank account in Ghana in terms of age is that one must be at least 18 years old before they qualify to open a bank account in Ghana. Requirements for opening a bank account in Ghana
Individuals
- Provide legal name & any other name used. (such as maiden name)
- Permanent address (full address should be provided; post office box is not sufficient), and important landmarks close to your residence should act as a complement.
- Telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address
- Date of birth
- Nationality
- Occupation, public position held, and/or employer name
- With students, an introductory letter from the student’s institution, signed by the head of the institution or his representative, and a student ID card.
- Type of account and nature of banking relationship
- Signature
- Any other information the respective bank may require
- Passport Pictures
- Copy of current utility bill
- A valid form of identification (for example, a Ghana card)
- Initial Deposit (To activate your account, you need to make an initial deposit. Most banks request GH¢50 cedis and others GH¢20).
