Kofi Kinaata began his music career as a rapper, which is why he has the title “Fante Rap God.” As a teenager, he used to do more rap freestyle and record demos back in the day. The first song he recorded was “Kikiliki” at a studio behind Nana Brempong Yaw School, where he had his junior high school education.
After completing his senior high school education at Takoradi Technical Institute, Kofi participated in Melody FM (Kasahari) rap competition in 2009 and emerged as the 1st runner-up. He continued to do rap battles with other rappers on the radio and stage for some time before starting his professional music journey.
When Kinaata started his professional music career, he released rap freestyles that he recorded. In 2013, Onnyi Chorus, one of Kofi’s songs that he released, started getting airplay and was making waves in the country. The song caught the attention of Highgrade Family record label owner Samini, and he signed him to his label on a five-year deal.
Under Highgrade Family, Kofi Kinaata added singing to his rap and released several hit songs. He became well-known under Highgrade, and after the five years ended, he became an independent artist under Team Move Music, which he heads. He makes highlife and highlife music. He is a favorite of popular Ghanaian personalities like Abedi Ayew Pele, Honourable Titus Glover, and Honourable Nii Lante Vanderpuye.
Also, with Kinaata’s good songwriting skills, he has been awarded the Best Songwriter of the Year in different years by the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Ghana Music Awards UK, and other Awards schemes. He has collaborations with several Ghanaian musicians, including MzVee, Castro, Donzy, Samini, Sarkodie, and Shatta Wale.
