Lasmid was born on March 3, 1996, in the Western Region of Ghana, Takoradi, to be precise. He lived with his grandmother at the age of six at Dunkwa-On-Offin. He is the third and last born of his divorced parents. He completed his primary and JHS education at Dunkwa-On-Offin in the Central Region of Ghana. At age eleven, he moved to Wassa Akropong to stay with his mom, and at age 12-13, he stayed with his father in Tarkwa.

Vodafone Icons 2018 Edition & MTN Hitmaker Season 8
Lasmid participated in the 2018 edition of Vodafone Icons but didn’t go far in the competition due to a lack of votes. In 2019, he participated in the Season 8 edition of MTN Hitmaker, and due to his electrifying performances during the competition, he got the stage name Charger. He won the MTN Hitmaker Season 8 edition and walked away with a $120,000 recording deal and a black Anibisa headset from MTN Pulse.

A few months after winning MTN Hitmaker, he released his first song under Highlife Spiritual Music titled “Odo Brassband.” He featured Highlife musician and rapper Kofi Kinaata on this song. Following that, he released Sika ft. Dead Peepol and “Father” featuring Mr. Drew, and in Early 2022, he released a remix of Sika featuring Kwame Eugene.
The Charger man gained his breakthrough in the Ghana music industry after dropping a snippet of his new song Friday night in June 2022. Kumawood actor lil win helped promote the song, and a few weeks later, the song took over the airwaves and was streamed well on all music platforms, especially Boomplay. He also got massive love and support from Nigeria’s top producer and leader of the Supreme Marvin Dynasty record label, Don Jazzy, and musician Naira Marley.
