Music Journey
Nacee started his music journey in Gomoa Oguaa when he was nine (9) years old. At this age, he was putting up small shows in an uncompleted building in his village where he entertained young ones like himself with highlife music. He also sang in school during entertainment programs. He loved highlife music because, growing up, that was the only genre of music they played in the family house in Gomoa Oguaa, where he lived with his grandmother, one of his aunties called Esi Nkrumah, and other family members.
After completing junior high school in Gomoa Oguaa, Nacee Music decided to further his education at a music school in Accra. He moved to the capital city to join his mum, who was already living there, and told her about his decision. However, his mother, Auntie Serah, who couldn’t support his education, told him to learn handwork. Nacee started learning how to repair electronics even though it took some time to agree with his mother’s decision.
He mastered how to fix PA systems, pianos, and other types of equipment. He learned how to play the piano and other instruments whiles he was repairing them. Also, it got to a time when he was going to set up PA systems and other equipment for churches after they had brought them for repairs. Through going to various churches, Nacee became born again and joined one of these churches he went to. In the church, he became an instrumentalist, sang in the church choir, and later became a choir leader. He also helped in setting up equipment and recording preaching.
He officially launched his music career in 1992 when he recorded his first demo at Fredyma Studio at Circle in Accra. He began his sound engineering career in a small space in a church and later rented a store where he kept his equipment and slept. As a sound engineer, he worked with musicians like Antwi ne Antwi, Obour, Noble Netiah, and Ohemaa Mercy. He has backed songs like Sekina, Uncle Ebo, Waye Me Yie, Edin Jesus, and Se Mete Ase Yi.
In 2007, Nana Kweku Osei and Lord Bondzie Amissah formed the gospel music group “No Tribe.” After releasing three albums Altar, One God, and Three, popular gospel songs like Bohye, and winning awards, No Tribe became inactive in 2015 when Nacee decided to go on a solo project.
Nacee’s first solo hit is “Yewo Nyame A Yewo Adze.” He has released other gospel songs like Efata Wo, Aseda, and Mpaebo. He has three albums to his credit and won awards, including Worship Song of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year at the Ghana National Gospel Music Awards 2019. He is a Gospel musician and a record producer. He owns the Tone Hall Studios at Mataheko in Accra.
