She is the Founder of Ohemaa Mercy Ministry and Outreach and the annual gospel concert Tehillah Experience which is ten (10) years now. She began her music journey in 2004 and has released popular songs like Wofiri Mu, Edin Jesus, and Fefeefe. In 2022, Ohemaa won the Best Gospel Song of the Year category at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and 3Music Awards in Ghana.

Early Life & Background

Ohemaa Mercy was born on September 7, 1997, in Weija, Accra, to Mr. and Mrs. Amoah. She grew up in Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana. She is a Fante from Elmina, in the Central Region, and the third born among five children. Ohemaa is 46 years old.

She has four siblings, two brothers and two sisters. However, she has lost her two brothers.

Educational Background

Mercy had her primary education at St. Peter’s Anglican School in Koforidua. For her high school education, she went to Ghana Senior High School, Koforidua, and proceeded to S.D.A Teachers Training College, Asokore, Koforidua, where she obtained her Teachers Certificate “A.”

Teaching Career

Ohemaa began her career as a teacher. Because her mum was a teacher, she also wanted to become a teacher. After completing high school, Ohemaa went to SDA Teachers Training College in Koforidua in the year 2000. She finished in 2003 and became a professional teacher. She first taught at Sunyani Anglican Primary School and transferred to St. Peters Anglican School after she got married. The “Edin Jesus” hitmaker taught for two (2) years before entering the gospel ministry and becoming a gospel musician.

Music Journey

At age nine (9), Ohemaa Mercy was singing in church at the Church of Pentecost, Bethel Assembly in Koforidua. She joined a singing group called “Golden Bells” in high school that used to go and sing at church programs. She was also part of the Scripture Union in SHS and later President of the SU. Her faith in God grew in SHS when she became the SU President and began ministering in school.

In 2004, a year after completing Training college, she met a Man of God who asked her to come and sing at a church program, and through that, the Man of God sent Ohemaa to a music studio to record. She released her first album, “Adamfo Papa,” in November 2004, and now she has eight (8) albums to her credit. She has dropped several singles and won awards locally and internationally.
