Portia Asare Boateng is a Ghanaian actress, brand ambassador, film producer, and entrepreneur. She is the Chief Executive Officer of PAB Productions in Ghana. She is an actress in the Kumawood movie industry who got her breakthrough after starring in the Ghanaian movie “Kumasi Yonko.” In May 2022, she was unveiled as the brand ambassador for Union Group of Companies Limited (UGCL) in Ghana.

Early Life & Background

Portia Asare Boateng was born on September 17, 1985, in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region of Ghana. She grew up in Akropong in the Eastern Region of Ghana due to her mum’s profession. Portia Asare’s mother was a policewoman, and because of transfers, she worked in different regions in Ghana. The actress is the first child among five children and a native of Kona in the Ashanti Region. She is 38 years of age.

Educational Background

Asare started schooling in the Ashanti Region before moving to the Eastern Region, where she completed her primary education. She attended Kumasi Anglican Senior High School in the Ashanti Region for her high school education and proceeded to a media school in Kumasi, where she studied news anchoring.

After media school, Portia worked as a news anchor and later continued her education and obtained a diploma in Secretarial Studies Certificate at one of the tertiary schools in Kumasi. Asare Boateng furthered and earned a degree in Human Resource Management at Methodist University College in Accra after obtaining her diploma certificate.

Portia Asare Boateng first married a pastor called Rev. John Wilberforce Aidoo on December 21, 2014, a few years after having her first child (son) with a different person. However, a few years later, after having her second child (daughter) with this man of God, their marriage hit the rock. She remarried another man named Mr. Raymond Kwaku Marfo in 2021, who is her current husband.

Acting Journey

Growing up, Portia Asare Boateng wanted to become a flight attendant, a news anchor, or a secretary. However, she started acting and entertaining others at a young age. In her final year in junior high, she went for an audition and got the chance to feature in ‘Taxi Driver,’ an old television series in Ghana where she played the role of the girlfriend of Aboagye in the series.

After completing high school in 2000, Asare decided to do full-time acting. With the help of one of her aunties, Akuaba Kuma Prempeh, who worked at GBC, she was introduced to Mr. Kwaku Twumasi, who told her about a movie audition at the Cultural Center in Kumasi which she went for the audition and landed a supporting role in her first movie titled “Dabi Dabi.”

After Portia’s first film, she was discovered by filmmakers in Ghana, like Kofi Yeboah, the CEO of Nyankoton Movie Production, and Mr. Samuel Nyamekye, CEO of Miracle Films Productions. She gained her breakthrough in the movie industry in Ghana after starring in a film produced by Mr. Samuel Nyamekye titled “Kumasi Yonko.” Portia has starred in numerous Ghanaian movies and produced films under her PAB Productions.
