Post Doctoral Fellow – Water Resources Planning and Management at Clemson

Clemson University’s South Carolina Water Resources Center and Department of Agricultural Sciences are seeking competent applicants for one Postdoctoral Research position. The South Carolina Water Resources Center is located in Pendleton, South Carolina.

Project details: To investigate water management issues in various South Carolina watersheds, the chosen applicant will create statistical and numerical models as well as forecasts of water demand. The next state water plan (https://hydrology.dnr.sc.gov/water-planning.html) will include the findings from this study.

Among the duties are gathering and analyzing spatial and temporal data, creating projections, creating excellent maps and charts, creating detailed reports, presenting at stakeholder meetings, gathering input and making the required modifications, investigating econometric analysis of water demand, helping to create data dashboards, writing journal articles, etc. Additionally, the hiring will have the chance to cooperate on grant proposals and work with graduate students.

Qualifications

A PhD with a strong emphasis on hydrology, water resources planning and management, or agricultural economics with an emphasis on econometric analysis related to water resources planning and management, statistics, programming abilities (ideally in R or a willingness to learn R and Shiny), GIS, and strong writing and presentation skills (as evidenced by journal publications) are among the minimum requirements.

Additionally, the chosen applicant must be willing to travel throughout the state to attend stakeholder meetings and possess a current driver’s license. Sometimes overnight stays are necessary. It is a one-and-a-half-year role. Initial appointment will be for one year and renewable, contingent upon funding and performance.
