Who was Rev Anthony Kwadwo Boakye?

Rev Anthony Kwadwo Boakye was the Founder and General Overseer of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church (RPNGC), a Pentecostal-Charismatic ministry with branches throughout Ghana. He was also a philanthropist and an author with over six books to his credit. He wrote spiritual books like Wisdom of God, Money is Good, and Deliverance from Witchcraft & Familiar Spirits: A Practical Perspective: Dealing with Witch-Demonology.

He was born on February 24, 1958, in Atwima-Manhyia in the Ashanti Region of Ghana to the late Opanin Akwasi Ampong and the late Obaapanin Yaa Bio. He was the eleventh child out of twelve children. However, the twelfth child couldn’t survive, so he became the last born of his parents. He attended Manyhia Methodist Primary and Middle School, and after completing Middle School in 1976, he enrolled to become a mechanic at the Suame Magazine in the Ashanti Region.

In the late 1970s, Rev Anthony Kwadwo Boakye joined a group of Ghanaian migrants to Nigeria in search of greener pastures. After a short stay in the neighboring West African country, he returned to Ghana with one bus and began a transport business in Accra. After years of hard work, he purchased other buses and employed people to work for him, which made him a household name in the transport business. The Leader of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church had his encounter with God in 1987.

He attended a historic crusade at the Kaneshie Market in Accra organized by the late Evangelist Francis Akwasi Amoako, and during the event, he accepted Christ as his savior. He then joined the Resurrection Power and Living Bread Ministries, and through his dedication to God’s work in the church, he was later appointed leader of the Men’s Fellowship group. He also continued to progress in his transport business, which made him start to convey his fellow church members to church every Sunday.

Rev Dr Anthony Kwadwo Boakye received a prophecy about his pastoral ministry through Reverend Appau Baffour. However, there was a little resistance from him in responding to the call of God because of how well he was doing in his transport business. He was then posted to the Mataheko branch of the Resurrection Power and Living Bread Ministries, where he eventually decided to answer the call of God. He enrolled at the Living Bread Bible School at Pig Farm, a suburb of Accra, and after began his ministry.

He was ordained into the ministry work by a man of God named Pastor Addo. He started his ministry with few people, but at a later date, his ministry grew through organizing crusades in areas in Accra like Russia and Odorkor. He later acquired land at Ngleshie Amanfro, near the Kasoa toll booth, and built the Resurrection Power New Generation Church, which now has branches throughout the country. He also began broadcasting his daily and weekly church services live on Top FM 103.1 and its affiliates in Ghana and beyond. He was also telecasting all his Crusades and services on the church’s own television station (RTV) and as part of “Resurrection Hour” on Crystal TV, TV Africa, and GTV at various times.

Rev Anthony Kwadwo Boakye first got married to Adwoa Korewaa, a Ghanaian woman from Kwahu Abetifi in the Eastern Region. They gave birth to three children together. Their names are Jennifer Boakye, Dorcas Boakye, and Benjamin Boakye. Unfortunately, in 1996, Rev Anthony Kwadwo Boakye lost his wife, Adwoa. He remarried years later to another Ghanaian woman, Rev. Mrs. Margaret Y. Boakye, and also had children with her. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Resurrection TV (RTV), BTV, RFM (Accra), RFM (Kumasi), and Hope FM (Breman Asikuma).

As a philanthropist, he renovated a military block and built a security post at the Tamale Barracks in the Northern Region. He also renovated a medical laboratory and a patient ward at the 37 military hospital in Accra and assisted individuals. His passion to see people educated resulted in the commissioning of the Resurrection Power Mission School in September 2019 with the admission of students from creche to junior high school level. He was also an executive producer of TV and radio programs, a motivational speaker, and an author with over six (6) books to his credit. In 2015, an award of a Doctorate Degree Ph.D. in Christian Ministry was conferred on Rev Anthony Kwadwo Boakye by Dayspring Christian University in Mississippi in the United States of America.

On October 23, 2021, Rev Anthony Kwadwo Boakye fell ill and was struck by a stroke. He was hospitalized for months and was later discharged after he responded to treatment. On January 2023, he was sent back to the hospital after he complained of sharp pain in his left leg. Unfortunately, On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at about 2:00 am, he gave up the ghost while on his hospital bed at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, where he was receiving treatment.
