Music Journey
Sista Afia was born into a musical family. Her mother, Perpetual Duncan-Williams, was a highlife backing vocalist, and her father, Joe Eshun, was part of a music band in the Central Region. She started singing in church at a very young age. However, professionally, her music journey began in 2015 after she worked in a hospital in London, United Kingdom, for some time.
In 2015, when Sista Afia was still in London, her old management wanted someone to help groom the upcoming artiste, and there was no one in mind than Ghanaian highlife musician Bisa Kdei. So, they arranged a meeting for her and Bisa Kdei when he visited London. When Bisa listened to Afia sing, he told her she had a good voice and that she should come to Ghana so they work together.
Afia returned to Ghana in 2015 and released her first song, “Kro Kro No,” featuring Bisa Kdei the same year. The song was written and produced by award-winning Ghanaian highlife musician Bisa Kdei. She followed up with a song titled “Are You Ready,” also written by Bisa, and later a song titled “Yiwani.” She has since remained relevant in the Ghana music industry with over fifteen singles and an album, “Queen Solomon,” to her credit.
