He won the Focus FM Freestyle Friday competition in 2010 and the KFM Freestyle Saturday in 2011. Early life

Strongman was born on February 10, 1993, in Buokrom in the Ashanti Region of Ghana to Madam Lawreshia Tagoe, a.k.a Adwoa Ahyia, and Mr. Owusu, a.k.a Capito. He grew up in Buokrom and was raised by his parents and grandmother. He is 30 years old and a native of Buokrom.


Madam Lawreshia Tagoe is the name of strongman Burner’s mother, and his father is called Mr. Owusu (Capito).


Burner has four siblings on his father’s side. He is the first child among his mother’s four children.

Educational Background

He went to Kings and Queens Primary and Junior High School. He had his high school education at T.I. Ahmadiyyah Senior High School in Kumasi, where he studied Business and proceeded to the University of Cape Coast for his tertiary education. He graduated from UCC in 2016 with a degree in Business Management Studies.

Music Journey

Strongman Burner was a footballer before he became a rapper. He started playing football when he was at the primary school level. Burner began his rap career in high school at T.I. AMASS. He engaged in rap battles in SHS, and when he went to the University, he participated in rap freestyle competitions on radio and Television.

In 2010, he won the Focus FM Freestyle Friday, a program hosted on the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology campus-based radio station, Focus FM, in Kumasi. In 2011, he emerged as the champion of the KFM Freestyle Saturday hosted by James Akwasi Oberko, popularly known as Jamester, on KFM in Kumasi.

On November 16, 2012, Burner won the maiden edition of the Next Big Thing in GH Hip-hop, a rap competition that was organized by CharterHouse in Accra and shown GhOne Television. After winning this competition, he signed his first record label deal with MicBurnerz Music in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

Strongman caught rapper Sarkodie’s interest years after signing to MicBurnerz Music record label, and in 2017, he was signed to his record label Sarkcess Music. He worked with Sarkcess Music for two years before becoming an independent artist. He now owns a record label called Strong Empire.
