Early life<\/h3>\n

Ebony was born in Sunyani, the Bono Region of Ghana, on February 16, 1997, to Madam Beatrice Oppong Marthin and Nana Opoko Kwarteng. She grew up in Dansoman, a suburb of Accra. She is the last of three children and a native of Abesim, a town in Sunyani, the Bono Region of Ghana.<\/p>\n

Beatrice Oppong Marthin and Nana Opoku Kwarteng are the parents of the late Ebony. Madam Beatrice is a dietician from Abesim in the Bono Region, and Nana Opoku-kwarteng is a Travel consultant from Wamfie in the Bono Region.<\/p>\n

Siblings<\/h3>\n

She has two siblings, an elder brother who goes by the name Nana Kwarteng-Opoku (first child) and an elder sister called Happy Opoku-kwarteng\/Yaa Foriwaa (second child).<\/p>\n

Ebony Reigns had her preschool education at Glory Kindercare Learning Complex in Sunyani. She furthered to Christ International Preparatory School (Mama Lawson), also in Sunyani, and later, when her family relocated to Accra, specifically Dansoman, she continued her basic education at Christian Home School.<\/p>\n

Ohemaa completed her junior high at Seven Great Princess Academy in Dansoman. She had her high school education at Methodist Girls Senior High School, Mamfe, but quit school to start making music when she was about to go to SHS 3.<\/p>\n

Ebony, aka Nana Hemaa (Ohemaa), never married and had no children before her demise.<\/p>\n

Music Journey<\/h3>\n

Priscilla Opoku-kwarteng’s dad wanted her to be a lawyer. However, growing up, Priscilla loved everything, Art. She used to draw and write poems at a young age. She also started writing songs at a young age and grew up listening to reggae songs at home which influenced her decision to make music.<\/p>\n

In December 2014, when Ebony was about to move to SHS 3 at the Methodist Girls Senior High School, she told her dad that she wanted to quit school to pursue her music career. Although her dad wasn’t happy about the decision, he allowed her to drop out of school to chase her music dreams after her second attempt of trying to convince him.<\/p>\n

So in Early 2015, Ebony began her music journey, and not long after, she was introduced to Bullet, the owner of Ruff Town Records in Ghana, by a friend named Ogee the MCee. After some time of knowing Ricky Mama Agyeman (Bullet), Ebony got a record deal somewhere in December 2015 and released her first song, “Dancefloor,” under Ruff Town Records.<\/p>\n

The song “Dancefloor” became a radio hit and got her a nomination in the Unsung Categories at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. In March 2016, she dropped another banger dubbed “Kupe” and released other songs before coming out with her “Bonyfied” Album in 2017.<\/p>\n

Ebony was signed to RuffTown Record and Midas Touch Inc. till she met her untimely death on February 8, 2018.<\/p>\n

Ebony Reigns died in a fatal car accident on February 8, 2018, with two others (her longtime friend Franklina Yaa Nkansah Kuri and her soldier friend Atsu Vondee) when they were returning from a surprise visit they paid to her mum in Abirem Sunyani, in the Bono Region of Ghana. The accident happened on Kumasi Sunyani Road in Ghana, and the only survivor was Ebony’s driver, Okoh Pinehas Chartey.<\/p>\n
