Yvonne Nelson was born at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana, on November 12, 1985. She grew up in Dansoman. Her father is a Ga from Jamestown, and her mother is a Fante from Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana. She is 38 years old and a native of Jamestown, Accra.

Career
Yvonne loved entertainment when she was in Aggrey Memorial Senior High School. She was most of the time rapping on stage during Entertainment on Saturdays, and one of the rappers she looked up to was Legendary Ghanaian rapper Obrafuor. She wanted to become a rapper, but acting somehow found her.
According to the actress, one afternoon, she was going to have lunch somewhere and saw a group of people doing auditions for a movie. She went there, and the director asked if she was also there for auditions, but she answered no, and he asked again, but she repeated the same answer. Later, the film producer who was present managed to collect her number, and he later called her to convince her to become an actress, and that’s how her movie career started.
Yvonne’s first film was Princess Tyra in 2007. After many years of playing lead roles and supporting roles in movies and becoming a household name in Ghana’s movie industry and other African countries, Nelson started film production in 2012. She has ten years of experience in movie production and counting. Nelson has won awards in Ghana, Nigeria, New York, and other countries. Some actors and actresses she has worked with include Jackie Appiah, John Dumelo, Majid Michel, Yvonne Okoro, Van Vicker, and Yvonne Okoro.
