Early Life & Family Background

Adina Thembi Ndamse was born on October 3, 1989, in Liberia to a South African father and a Ghanaian mother. However, she was brought to Ghana in 1990. She grew up in Accra, Ghana, and was raised by her mum. Ndamse is 33 years old and a native of Ajumako Kromaim in the Central Region of Ghana. She currently has six siblings, including half brothers and sisters.



Mercy Addison and the late Dr. Richard Sikhumbuzo Ndamse are the parents of Adina Thembi. Madam Mercy is a Ghanaian from Ajumako Kromaim in the Central Region of Ghana and a Fashion designer by profession. Dr. Richard was a South African from Eastern Cape and a doctor in Liberia.


Adina had seven siblings but lost one of them. So currently, she has six siblings, which include half brothers and sisters. Some of them are living in Ghana, and others are living in South Africa.

Educational Background

She completed her junior high education at RECT ACADEMY at Kwashi-Bu St, Accra, and proceeded to Wesley Girls’ Senior High School for her high school Education. After SHS, Thembi furthered to the Central University in Dawhenya, Accra, and obtained a degree in Environmental and Development Studies.

Music Journey

Adina Thembi Ndamse began her musical journey at a young age. She used to sing in church and school. Also, she was the type that used to beat empty cans with sticks with her cousins and sing along to disturb neighbors.

Months after completing her high school education, Adina auditioned for the 2008 Stars of the Future, a music reality in Ghana. She was selected for the competition and emerged as the winner.

Adina rose to prominence through the Stars of the Future music reality show, and after winning the 2008 edition, she was assigned to EKB Records, owned by Kiki Banson. Under this label, she dropped her first song, “Don’t Judge Me,” written by herself and Kiki. At the same label, Adina formed a three-girls music group with two other ladies who were signed to EKB Records.

Later, she joined Skillions Records, owned by Jayso, and released her second track, “Music.” From Skillions Records, the next label Adina joined is the New African Movement, owned by Kwame Farkye, and currently, she is signed to this label.

Thembi has been in the Ghana music industry for more than twelve (12) years and has hit songs like Why, Sika, Take Care of You, and Killing Me Softly to her credit. She has worked with Ghanaian musicians like KiDi, Kwami Eugene, Stonebwoy, and South African musician Mr. Jazziq. Adina Thembi also loved acting when she was a teenager. She has played a role in a stage play with Okyeame Kwame and starred in a Ghanaian movie titled “A New Flame.”
