Scholarship Coverage

Deakin University Scholarships will provide:

A stipend of $34,400 per annum tax exempt (2024 rate)
Students who relocate from out-of-state or abroad to study at Deakin University will get a relocation payment ranging from $500 to $1,500 (for single to family).
Single Overseas Student Health Cover coverage for the term of the student visa is exclusively available to overseas students.

Eligibility Criteria for Deakin University Scholarships

The candidate must meet each of the conditions listed below in order to be eligible for the Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarship:

Required Language: English.
Eligible Countries: All world countries.
Students must be enrolled in an HDR course of study at Deakin University, whether they are local or foreign, in order to be eligible for an RTP Stipend, RTP Fees Offset, RTP Allowance, or DUPRS.
An applicant must not be receiving an equivalent award or scholarship from the Commonwealth intended to cover HDR expenses in order to be eligible for an RTP expenses cover.
In order to qualify for an RTP or DUPRS Stipend, a student must not be receiving any additional funding from other sources to cover their living expenses throughout their course of study, provided that such funding does not exceed 75% of their RTP or DUPRS Stipend rate. Income obtained for the student’s course of study but unrelated to it, or income used for the student’s course of study but not to pay for basic living expenses, is not to be taken into consideration.
Candidates for an RTP or DUPRS Stipend must have finished four years of postsecondary study and earned a first class honors degree or an equivalent degree.
For Doctoral degree:
-Completion of a research project in a relevant field, including a thesis, with a grade for the project equal to or higher than a Deakin grade of 70%, which is equivalent to at least 25% of a year of full-time study at Level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework.-Masters Degree (Research) in a related area.
For Master Degree:
– Completing a research project, including a thesis, at least 25% of which is equivalent to a year of full-time study at Level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework, and receiving a project grade that is equal to or more than a Deakin grade of 65%.
