Early life & Family Background
The beautiful host, Maria Yayra Mensah Portela, was born in Accra on 29th May 2005 and grew up in Accra, Ghana. Portela is 18 years old, and so far, she is the only child of her parents. She has four step-siblings, and her parents are from different countries. Her dad is Spanish, and her mum is Ghanaian. However, she considers herself more of a mummy girl.
Educational Background
Maria completed JHS in 2020 and gained admission to Methodist Girls Senior High School, Mamfe, in the Eastern Region, in 2021. She studied General Arts at Meghis and completed in 2023.

Career
Maria Yayra Mensah Portela discovered her gift of acting at age six. She was featured in a TV commercial after she went for an audition, and her performance landed her the Little Derby role in the Ghanaian teen series YOLO, produced by Farm House Productions.
After her appearance in YOLO, Farm House Productions recommended her to TV3, who was looking for a co-host for Talented Kids. She auditioned for it and got the job. Since then, she has co-hosted a few seasons of Talented Kids on TV3.
Maria Yayra Mensah aspires to be one of the best television personalities in Ghana. She states that her role model is Berla Mundi and other female media personalities in Ghana.

Portela was nominated for the Award categories, social media influencer of the Year, TV/show host of the Year, and Brand influencer at the Ghana Entertainment and Business Awards (GEBA) 2021.
