Early Life & Background

Tima Kumkum was born in Obuasi, Ashanti Region, on September 16, 1987, to Mary Andzi Quainoo and Felix Kwaah Yeboah. Her father, Mr. Yeboah, worked at AngloGold Ashanti in Obuasi, so she was raised in Obuasi until she was 13 when she had to relocate to Cape Coast, Central Region, with her mum and siblings because her dad left for the United States. Tima completed both junior high and high school in the Central Region. She is the first child among her father’s four children and the fifth among her mother’s eight children. She is 36 years old and a native of Akyem Aduasa in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Cynthia’s parents are Mary Andzi Quainoo and Felix Kwaah Yeboah. Her mum is from Brofoyedru in the Central Region, and her dad hails from Akyem Aduasa in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Her parents have four children together, but her mum has another four kids from her previous marriage, making her children eight.

After completing high school, Tima Kumkum went to the Institute of Business Management and Journalism, where she graduated with a diploma in journalism before topping up with a bachelor’s degree in journalism at Jayee University College in Accra. She graduated with a Masters in Public Relations at the Ghana Institute of Journalism in 2023.

Tima Kumkum first married at 24 in Cape Coast, the Central Region of Ghana. She separated from her ex-husband in 2014. However, she remarried in 2023 to her current husband, Dominic Duodu.

Acting Career

Cynthia Tima Yeboah’s acting journey began while studying at the Institute of Business Management and Journalism in Kumasi, Ashanti Region. She had a mate at IBM&J called Prince Minkah, who convinced her that she would be a good actress after carefully observing her actions in class.

At the time, Prince Minkah was working at Kessben Media and working with veteran actress Nana Hayford, who was the host of ‘Abrabo mu Nsem’ play discussion on TV, besides acting, so he invited Tima to one of the discussions, and after the program, he introduced her to the host, Naana Hayford.

During their conversation, Nana Hayford told Tima about an upcoming movie audition, which she went for the audition, and after auditioning, she got to act in a movie where she played a witchcraft role. However, on the same movie set, she met Asare Badiako, the continuity on the set, and he also told her about his upcoming movie audition.

Again, Tima Kumkum went for the movie audition and landed her first and official movie role in a film titled ‘Asem Asa.’ She played the character ‘Sandra’ in this movie and has since appeared in several Ghanaian movies, including Brenya, Aden, and Asabea. She entered the movie industry in 2006.

Media Career

Growing up, Tima Kumkum wanted to become a news anchor or a media personality, just like Ghanaian Broadcast journalist and host of Stand Point, Oheneyere Gifty Anti. She looked up to her and admired how she read the news on TV.

Yeboah’s media journey started when she was posted to Multimedia Ghana for her second National Service after completing Jayee University College. The opportunity came for her to work with Multimedia Ghana after her NSS.

She started working as a Channel Executive for Joy Prime, one of the TV stations belonging to Multimedia Ghana, before moving to host programs on TV and radio stations like Adom TV/FM and Hitz FM, owned by Multimedia.

Tima Kumkum hosts Aben Show, a Culinary Program that started showing on Adom TV, which is now shown on GHOne TV, Miss Golden Stool of Adom TV, Yemmo Nkomo on Adom 106.3 FM, and the Late Night Chat Show on Hitz 103.9 FM. She is widely known for hosting Kumkum Bagya telenovela discussions on Adom TV, and that’s how she got the name Tima Kumkum.
