Yaw Siki, also called Brother Yaw, is a former Ghanaian highlife musician and rapper. He is now an Evangelist who preaches the Christian Gospel. He is famed for his Wope dodo and Jeggings party songs.

Early life

Siki was born and raised in a Christian home in Tema, Accra. He was born on May 22, 1986, and he is 37 years old. His parents gave birth to two children, thus two male children, and he is the second child. He grew up in Tema alongside his elder brother.

His brother is called Godfred Okai.

Educational Background

Yaw Siki attended Star Basic School & JHS in Tema and continued to Tema Methodist Day Senior High School. After SHS, he went to study journalism at a media school in Tema but left school to focus on his music career.

Personal life

He is married and has a child. Brother Yaw and his beautiful Ghanaian wife tied the knot in December 2019 and welcomed their first child, a girl, in 2020.

Career

Yaw Siki started singing in church when he was a young boy. He was a member of a singing group in church called Marvelous Action Singers. He became a rapper after completing his senior high school at Tema Methodist Day Senior High School, a school that has produced many prominent musicians in Ghana.

Siki took his rap career seriously and started recording demos moving from one studio in Tema to another. After a few years, he met KillBeatz, a renowned producer in Ghana who helped him record a few songs in his studio, which he released. Yaw got his breakthrough in 2011 after he released the song “Wope dodo.” At that time, he was in a media school, but when he realized he had become popular and there was a need to make more music and money, he left school to focus more on his music career.

Accident

Two years after gaining his breakthrough, Brother Yaw was involved in an accident on the Tema motorway with a friend when they were returning from a business meeting. He was hospitalized after the accident for three months, and through what happened to him, he became a born-again. He is no longer a highlife musician or a rapper but a Minister of the gospel and a gospel musician. Yaw Siki has gospel songs such as Gyina and Madi Wakyi.

Yaw Siki Songs

Before becoming a gospel musician, Isaac Okai released songs like Wope Dodo, Jeggings Party, Eye Onua, Maa Jarki, One More Flow, Happy Day, and Yawa. He featured some artistes like Mugeez, Flexing Boy, Sarkodie, and Chase on some of the songs. They also put him on their songs.

Yaw Siki’s new songs, which are his gospel songs, include Madi Wakyi, Thank You, Ohene, and Gyina.
