Bernard Nyarko was born and raised in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He was born on August 8, 1970, to Chief Inspector RTD James Boi Som and Maame Yaa Konadu. His parents gave birth to four children, two boys, and two girls, and he is the second child. Bishop is a native of Parkoso in the Ashanti Region.

Bernard Nyarko’s father, James Boi Som, is a retired policeman from Obosomase in the Eastern Region of Ghana. His mother, Maame Yaa Konadu, is a former employee of PWD (Public Works Department) and an Asante woman from Parkoso in the Ashanti Region.

Career
Bishop Bernard Nyarko was an athlete when he was at Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS). He used to run for his school in super zonal competitions and also runned for Ghana and held a junior record of 14.2 seconds several years ago.
After completing high school, Bernard moved to the United Kingdom to work. He worked at a store in the UK, and after a few years, he returned to Ghana to preach the gospel.
In Ghana, Bishop joined pastors to preach, and he used to sing praise and worship in churches. He did that for some years and then started acting.
Movie Journey
Growing up, acting wasn’t part of Bernard’s dreams. At age twelve (12), he told his mum he wanted to become a preacher. However, he came into acting after a movie director he accommodated for a week at his house decided to return the favor by shooting a movie with him.
Bernard’s first movie role he got was playing the role of a family head. The next he got was playing the role of a Lawyer. Nyarko’s career began in 2010, and after years of starring in many Ghanaian movies, he stopped acting to go into full-time ministry.
