Afia Akoto, also called Madam Alberta Afia Adepa Akoto, is a Ghanaian politician and entrepreneur. She owns Adepa Groceries, located in Dzorwulu, Accra. She is also a philanthropist and the Founder of the Afia Akoto Nixon (AAN) Humanitarian Foundation International.

Madam Alberta was born on September 1, 1978. She is 45 years of age and hails from Kwahu in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Adepa attended Aburi Girls Senior High School and obtained a high school certificate. She has other certificates and pursued her LLB at the London Business School in the UK.

Adepa began her political journey in 1999. She is a loyal member of the New Patriotic Party in Ghana. In 2017, She was appointed as the Deputy Speaker of Masloc by President Akuffo-Addo. However, before Alberta got the Deputy Speaker of Masloc Appointment, She worked as the Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

She also worked as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (Masloc) and a spokesperson for the Alliance For Accountable Governance (AFAG). On September 4, 2020, she launched her foundation called the Afia Akoto Nixon (AAN) Humanitarian Foundation International.

Madam Alberta was married to the former Deputy National Organizer of the NDC, Chief Hamilton Biney Nixon. The duo, who belong to different political parties in Ghana, got married on February 12, 2020. The marriage ceremony was held at Tantrahills in Accra, Ghana.

In November 2023, in an interview on Badwam on Adom TV, Afia Akoto referred to Chief Biney as her ex-husband, which revealed that her marriage with Biney had ended. She is a mother of four beautiful kids.

Afia Akoto contested to be voted as the parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party in the Okaikwei North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region. However, after the election, which was held on Saturday, December 5, 2023, she came in second, polling 228 votes, while the winner, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, polled 341 votes out of 828 votes.

When it comes to philanthropic works, Afia Akoto has done a lot for society. She has made donations to the Royal Seed Orphanage, the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, and others.
