In 1986, after completing completing high school, Agyapong decided to become a professional singer. She often told her mother what she wanted to do, but she wasn’t Okay with her career choice due to the negative things people used to say about musicians at that time.

But for someone who was very determined, Akosua decided to use a positive means to convince her mother so she would accept her career choice. So she went to look for the Legendary Nana Ampadu at one of his shows, told him her story, and he came home to convince her mum.

Since Akosua’s mother was someone who loved Nana Ampedu’s music, she accepted and allowed her daughter to be trained by the Legend. In 1988, she started her professional music journey. She came out with her first album, “Frema,” on January 1, 1990. The songs on the album included Me ye Obaa. She later released another album, her second titled “Esiwa,” and a third album, which was “Kokooko.”

In the year 1992, Akosua, Rex Omar, and Nat Brew came together to form the highlife group “NAKOREX” after they met at a show. They released their first group album, dubbed “Kpalogo,” with songs like Kpalogo, Odo Bema Me So, and others.

The NAKOREX group became a popular group in Ghana, but after five years, the members of this group went their separate ways and became solo artists again. Agyapong has released not less than five albums. With one of the albums, she collaborated with NAKOREX and another as a member of NAKOREX, plus her solo albums.
